Court OKs big Fern Creek commercial project

An appellate court ruling upholding the zoning has cleared the way for a developer to proceed with construction of a long-stymied, huge commercial center in Fern Creek. In 2010, Barrister Commercial Group received approval for a 363,000 square-foot shopping center called South Pointe Commons on about 45 acres just southeast of the Gene Snyder Freeway and Bardstown Road. But a handful of residents had kept the development tied up in Kentucky courts.
